A Group Project

A dear friend and I have begun a project of sorts. We are going to purposefully encourage one another to know God more, to focus on who He is and not what we do for Him, to invite Him into our everyday, to look for Him in the simple, the mundane, and the ordinary.

My friend is an ultra-planner.  For our project, she probably already has a calendar written up, some spreadsheets with verses cross referenced, and some sort of color coded something all neatly tucked into a shiny three ring binder.

Me, not so much....but I am happy to report I do have a step one, and I am inviting you to join me.

Step One - Focus on my favorite attribute of God
For this one, as it states, I've been spending the last few days dwelling on my favorite attribute of God, the fact that He is always and completely good. In 2003, through some sad life events, I decided to stake my claim on this one, sort of plant my flag in it and refuse to let go.  It was not a casual whim, or fleeting feeling.  It was a decision to hope and hold to His goodness.  Since then, it's the one I've clung to the most, and pray He will never let me release. Life can be harsh, it can hurt straight to the bone, but He is still good.  In honesty, I've never really figured out that equation, but I choose to believe it.  I believe that He is good, and always out for my best.

I'm now ten years away from 2003, and I have no idea what 2013 is about to unfold, but I believe my God is good.   It's simply my favorite thing about Him.  He is always good.

And now it's your turn. Do you have a favorite?  Is it His mercy, His grace, His unending forgiveness, His creativity, His unfathomable love, His generosity?  Whatever it may be, let's share them together and then spend the week meditating upon them, looking for evidence of them as we go throughout our day.   Feel free to add a verse or even a story of how you came to this attribute...

If you've never really thought this question through, now is a great time.  Think on it and then join the conversation. To add a comment, all you need to do is give your email account, Google will ask for it as if you are setting up an account for them, but this will give you access to the blog.

It'll be like a group research project. Plus, it'll really help me impress my ultra-planner friend!

  1. For me, it's God's grace...which is love.

  2. I chose God's love--especially the unfailing and unconditional aspects of His love. I am amazed at how many times He has demonstrated His love to me in just these three days since I made the choice. The very next day the devotion I read was on His unfailing love. The verse it gave was Psalm 107:21 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men. Thank you for the challenge to be more aware of God throughout my day. It brings many blessings.

    1. Thanks so much for sharing these. I too have been enjoying how many times my favorite attribute has been displayed as I have been actively looking for it.

He is everywhere, ever present, and ultra involved, isn't He!

  3. For me it has changed daily. One day is His mercy, when I am feeling especially unworthy. Another day it is His provision, when I realize how much love I have in my life and appreciate the fact that I have a roof over my head, food in my stomache and heat during the cold. Any, no EVERY time I look, I can find Him in all His glory loving me. The trick is taking time to look. Love you and Him, Connie
